Work in progress posting system, thoughts?

I know people hate it when someone makes a post and puts "WIP" to simply stall for time.. but this tends to happen to me a lot.. For example.. I'm in the middle of posting and my father comes around "get your ass of the computer, I need it". So there I am, stuck with half of my post and i have to get off.. so I put WIP because im not done, but im about to post and I don't want someone else posting before im done. Sure it's annoying, but sometimes s*** happens right.. I was hoping that maybe would could have an hour or two to allow for a WIP post..(if that time passes then the WIP post is voided) Any thoughts or ideas about how we might implement a WIP posting system? I know we have a 48 hour rule, but this is for hot topics.. As in you have a posting order and then some random person shows up, but it was your turn but you had to go. with the WIP system, you have an hour or so grace period in which you pray you can get back on to post so that ten people don't jump in before you get to go like you wanted to.

I like the idea of having a limited time posting period for WiP topics, but certain circumstances should have it changed. For example, WiP char apps. WiP char apps should NOT have a time limit, because who's gonna care?
What i'm getting at is, WiP topics should have a time limit (Three hours, in my opinion) for posts where more than one or two people is involved in the topic.

Well yeah, I meant for WIP posts in rp topics. lulz

You could always put a message at the bottom of your WIP and ask for more time

tch...you must rp with nice people. xD The people I know would simply say "wip means you haven't posted yet, therefore it's my turn since you haven't posted. Sorry"

I figure if it's WiP by the 48, thats the final edition and I go from there.

Well, I could see a WIP post being valid for 24h [half of the 48].

Like, you post up a wip post and then have 24h from the time stamp to complete it. It'd be fair and yeah, sometimes s*** happens.

So yeah, I could see that.
